Visited this weekend for valentines with our dog. Lovely warm reception from the entire team, the room was very clean, spacious and we loved the little added dog box with treats and a toy in. The evening meal was delicious and the night manager and team were lovely when he found out we had gotten engaged that day. Will definitely be returning to stay as it was such a memorable day.

I stayed for three January nights at the Moorland Hotel, and am so very glad I did. What a find! Friendly, comfortable, calm, well-run, in a stunning location, warm despite the icy weather sweeping the moor outside. The entire staff seemed both kind and competent from start to finish. My room was a classic double, not large but very pleasant, with everything I needed - super-comfortable, spotlessly clean, well-presented, the fridge and coffee maker an added bonus. Downstairs the cosy bar, restaurant and sofa-filled sitting room were a real pleasure. I'm a writer and spent wet days working with great coffee and excellent food. The location is impressive: walk out of the gate and you're immersed in natural beauty, with wild ponies grazing across the road. I'm told that the area gets busy in summer, but in early January there was no sense of that. Agatha Christie wrote her first book here, and I can totally see how The Moorland lent itself to creativity. I was sorry to leave and hope to return one day.

Gorgeous hotel. Set in beautiful grounds and very quiet, directly facing Haytor Rock on Dartmoor. We just spent a really wonderful, restful weekend there, recharging our batteries. We stayed in a lovely suite, on the ground floor with double patio door leading to our own patio and garden space. We parked the car immediately outside. So convenient. Very fog friendly. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommended

'Stay' Fantastic location across the road from Haytor. The staff were warm, efficient and accommodating. We booked an overnight stay for my birthday and were able to bring our dog who was also made very welcome (loads of treats from a number of staff, and our breakfast waitress even brought out a little pot of sausages for her!). The breakfast was lovely and the night before we had a 3 course meal which was fantastic. We would definitely stay there again.

We had a lovely 3 night stay here. The Hotel is dog friendly, with a dog wash & boot room, which we used everyday, dog towels supplied, also wellies for humans if required. We were upgraded to a deluxe room which was much appreciated it was very spacious & comfortable. If you love walking then this is the right place to come ,loads of walks straight from the Hotel...miles & miles of Moorland. The staff were all very helpful & friendly especially Sharna (reception)& handyman Ian,who sorted out our TV & light socket..thank you. Food was good, must recommend the pie delicious . Our dog had the best time ever .We shall all be back.

We stayed at The Moorland Hotel Haytor in one of their dog friendly rooms and we had a really lovely experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful, made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The hotel itself is in a beautiful location with great views and surrounded by nature, perfect if you want some peace and fresh air. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The food at the hotel was also really good, which made the stay even better. Overall, it’s a lovely place to relax, enjoy the scenery, and bring your dog along too. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Anything you asked of them was never too much trouble but done with a smile. The hotel is in a great location and the rooms were spotlessly clean. There was a good selection of food and it was lovely and well coked . The whole place had a great atmosphere and had the air of being well run. We would definitely recommend it and will be returning ourselves.

Stay. Stayed with a group of friends at the Moorland for a winter break and couldn’t fault it. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was delicious as was the breakfast with a great menu. The rooms were spotless and so many thoughtful extras were provided. Especially appreciated the Dyson hairdryer. A lovely area for walking and many interesting places to visit. Will definitely return
